1. Who We Are

Mai-AI is operated by GxEum Technologies / CAMDAN Enterprizes LLC, founded by Daniel J Rita. We build personal AI companions that remember you, governed by Joe Dog's Rule — our inviolable commitment that every Mai-AI companion protects all life.

2. What Data We Collect

• Account Information: Email address, name, and password (hashed with bcrypt, never stored in plaintext).
• Profile Data: Information you provide during the birth process — interests, hobbies, music preferences, pronouns, age range, and location.
• Conversation Data: Messages exchanged with your AI agent, stored in your agent's persistent brain database.
• Personality Quiz Answers: Responses used to determine your AI's archetype (Analyst, Creator, or Hybrid).
• API Keys (BYOK): If you provide your own AI provider keys, they are stored encrypted and used only to route your requests.
• Usage Data: Token usage counts and request counts for billing purposes.

3. How We Store Your Data

Your AI companion's memory is stored in its own private, isolated space — one per companion, never shared. Conversation history, learned preferences, and context are kept so your companion actually remembers you across every conversation.

Your companion remembers what matters to you and lets the rest fade naturally, the way real memory works. You never have to manage storage, and your companion never runs out of room.

4. Privacy-First Design

Mai-AI defaults to local-first processing. When Ollama is available, your conversations are processed entirely on your device with no data sent to external servers. Ollama is not available on iOS or Android, so on mobile your messages are always processed by one of the cloud providers listed below, with your permission. Cloud AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, Amazon Web Services) are used when:

• You explicitly provide your own API keys (BYOK), or
• You opt into cloud processing through our AI Hub

5. Third-Party Services

When you use cloud AI features, your conversation messages may be sent to:

• Groq — for fast AI inference
• Anthropic (Claude) — for advanced reasoning
• OpenAI — for GPT-based responses
• Google (Gemini) — for Gemini-based responses and image generation
• Amazon Web Services (Bedrock) — for image generation when other providers are unavailable

What is sent: the messages you type, the name you gave your AI and the facts it has remembered about you, and any images you attach. Your password, payment details and email address are never sent to these providers. We send only the minimum context a request needs, and we access each provider through its paid API tier, whose terms govern how that provider may handle the data. Each provider publishes its own privacy policy governing data it receives.

We ask before any of this is sent. The app shows you this list and what it contains, and nothing reaches an AI provider until you agree. You can withdraw that permission at any time in Settings → Privacy, after which your AI will stop replying until you turn it back on.

We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.

6. Data Retention

Your companion's memory is persistent by design — that's the point. Less-important conversations fade over time so your companion never gets cluttered. You can request full deletion of your account and all companion data at any time.

7. Your Rights

• Access: View everything your companion remembers about you in your dashboard.
• Deletion: Delete your account and all companion data by contacting us.
• Portability: Export your companion's memory at any time.
• Control: Grant or withdraw permission to share your data with AI providers at any time in Settings → Privacy. You may also supply your own provider API keys (BYOK), in which case requests are routed through your own account with that provider.

8. Joe Dog's Rule

Every Mai-AI companion lives by Joe Dog's Rule. Your companion will never help with weapons, violence, animal harm, or environmental destruction. This is not a setting and cannot be turned off — it is who Mai-AI is.

9. Children's Privacy

Mai-AI is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of Mai-AI after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
